
Adult Education Teacher - Math Test Prep (Part-time/Hourly/Evening class) at West Contra Costa Unified School District

Job Summary
West Contra Costa Adult Education is seeking a math teacher for a test prep course designed to prepare individuals with necessary skills required to pass the math and mechanical reasoning exams for the union trades. The individual will be responsible for teaching remedial math (4th-8th grade), mechanical reasoning, spatial reasoning and test taking strategies to students with varying academic levels. In addition the teacher will be responsible for the following: -Developing relationships with students, through in-person and email follow up to ensure students are aware of trade openings and application requirements -Working collaboratively with Construction Trades Workforce Initiative to understand the curriculum and deliver the materials using best teaching practices to prepare students to take and pass the written and oral exams for the construction trades, and to understand the union trades and their unique entrance requirements. -Track and report student engagement and outcomes. This is a part-time/hourly position with flexibility built in for an individual to work in person, two evenings per week for a total of 3.5 hours per night. Each class will be 2.5 hours of instruction with one additional hour for preparation each night.
Requirements / Qualifications
~ Bachelor's Degree ~ Must be certified to teach Adult Education subjects (*Designated Subjects: Adult Education Teaching Credential-ESBS OR Multiple-Subject Credential that includes Mathematics OR Single Subject Credential - Math, or an equivalent credential). ~ Proficiency in English required ~ Preferred: Experience teaching adult education and math courses preferred. An advocate of organized union labor.

- Minimum of three years' experience teaching adult students in adult school and/or community college environments
- Experience advising students about transition and/or experience with bridge/transition classroom work.
- Bilingual Spanish desirable.
