Job Summary

Under the direction of the Administrator, Instructional Programs, and the teacher's guidance, assist in setting up exercises, demonstrate safe and proper applications of equipment; provide instructional assistance to individuals or groups of students in the classroom and woodshop setting; respond to questions and assist students and staff as needed with materials and equipment; administer tests and maintain related records for classes in the residential and commercial construction trades program.

This position is grant-funded for the 2023-2024 school year and the selected applicant will not be guaranteed the position beyond the funding of the grant. Position has increased to full-time / 40 hours per week. Schedule can vary, but assignment does start at 6:30am (weekdays).

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING: Required: Verification of completion of high school, supplemented by applied vocational training and certification in construction trades, and two or more years of experience involving the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating, masonry, painting, welding, surveying and/or HVAC tools and equipment. Candidates may meet minimum qualifications through an equivalent combination of education and experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: A valid California Class C or Class 3 Driver's License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required. North Orange County ROP reviews the applications and required supporting documents indicated on the vacancy announcement to select those candidates who appear to possess the most extensive and relevant experience or abilities for the position. Not every candidate who meets the minimum qualifications is interviewed. Therefore, the application should be thorough, detailed, and clear. North Orange County ROP will not accept a résumé in place of a completed application. Additionally, current North Orange County ROP employees applying for a position must submit a completed application and supporting documents in the same manner as external applicants. Interviews are conducted between two days and two weeks following the application deadline. Skills and job sample tests may be given as part of the interview process.
