The Rio School District is accepting applications for the position of Elementary School Principal. Candidates are sought who have demonstrated high levels of leadership focusing on the maximum intellectual growth of students as the primary task. The candidate selected is expected to possess exceptional competence as a school administrator and provide leadership in supervision and evaluation of the school programs as well as the school staff. The Elementary School Principal must possess skills to lead and assist staff in carrying out effective school programs with a significant percentage of limited English proficient students. Beyond the broad leadership and administrative skills, candidates must have the capacity to appreciate and respond to the special qualities of the El Rio and Oxnard communities.QUALIFICATIONS Required § Appropriate California administrative Services Credential § An earned Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university § Five years of progressively responsible administrative or supervisory experience to include development of a master schedule of classes appropriate to elementary age students § Current or recent California administrative experience Desired § Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish § Direct experience in the elementary school level as an administrator with involvement in primary level curriculum § Sensitivity to facilitate the management of diverse human resources and personalities § Ability to evaluate the quality of programs at the elementary school level in relation to the allocation of funds and personnel, and to determine an equitable balance § Proficiency with computer technology for instructional and administrative purposes § Sensitivity for dealing with situations in a bilingual, bicultural school
