GUSTINE UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

TITLE: BUS DRIVER 

JOB GOAL

Under direct supervision of the Transportation Director, transports students to and from school and makes other trips as assigned; observes all State Laws and District policies related to driving school buses and carries out required safety inspections. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Maintain effective work relationships
  3. Valid Driver’s License and DMV clearance
  4. Safe Driving Record
  5. Knowledge of California laws and regulations pertaining to the driving of a school bus
  6. Must qualify for a state of California license to drive a school bus and pass the required first aid course
  7. Maintain student and staff confidentiality
  8. Respect confidential nature of pupil records and school reports
  9. Demonstrate correct written and oral use of the English Language
  10. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  11. Display appropriate interpersonal skills with staff, students, and parents
  12. Able to prioritize work assigned
  13. Pre-employment physical required
  14. First Aid certification required 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Personnel in this job classification may perform any combination of the essential duties shown below.   1. Drive District bus to transport pupils to and from school
  2. Drive District bus to transport students to extracurricular activities when assigned
  3. Keep the interior and exterior of the bus clean
  4. Carry out safety and maintenance inspections of the bus as required by law
  5. Report unsafe bus conditions to the Transportation Supervisor immediately
  6. Enforce bus riding regulations
  7. Fuel the bus as required
  8. Report when the bus needs to be serviced
  9. Obey all traffic laws
  10. Perform other duties when time permits between bus runs as assigned by the Transportation Director
  11. Other related duties as assigned

Gustine Unified School District is providing training for potential bus drivers. The District will also reimburse all costs related to training, and training will also be paid to employees once they pass all tests and start working at GUSD. • Ability to pass a DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance. • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical. • Ability to pass pre and post-employment drug screening tests. • Ability to pass the required first aid course. • Valid Ca. Driver’s License and DMV clearance are required. • Safe Driving Record. • Qualify for the State of California License to drive a school bus • Ability to obtain and maintain a bus certification.
