Job Summary

Education Specialists will provide quality services to special education students through a commitment to team participation in the planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff. Requirements / Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Design instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculum Reviews, analyzes and evaluates students history and background, and assists instructional personnel in assessment and program placement. Utilizes a variety of behavior management strategies and techniques. Monitor student progress, participate in review and revision of IEP, as appropriate. Prepare student education plans in consultation with parents and IEP team members. Maintain appropriate student data and other records and submit reports as required. Assists students with regular classroom instructional program assignments, as needed. Act as coordinator of IEP implementation with general education staff Articulate curriculum between and among student levels. ABILITY TO: Plan, organize, develop, and assist in the conduct of a comprehensive remedial instructional program; Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Complete work with many interruptions. Perform research and develop activities pertaining to curriculum and instructional programs. Operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the workplace Strong behavior management and positive discipline skills. Ability to be flexible and receptive to change.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be: EDUCATION: Possession of a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university. Possession of or qualification for a California Specialist Credential with resource specialist certification. EXPERIENCE: Successful instructional experience in a regular or special education classroom SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant will be required to pass a complete California DOJ/ FBI Fingerprint Clearance and T.B. test.
