CDBG-DR Workforce Recovery Training Program (WRTP) CULINARY ARTS CLASSIFIED POSITION: PART-TIME CHYBA'S MISSION California Heritage YouthBuild Academy (CHYBA), a public charter school, is an alternative high school for young people seeking to transform their lives by engaging in their education in a non-traditional school environment. CHYBA prepares students for post-secondary education and the workplace by offering academic, life skills, leadership, and workforce development programs. CHYBA believes that service to the community is an essential part of the transformative process. Therefore, students serve their community through volunteer projects, including creating housing for low-income residents and providing food services at the Hill Country Health and Wellness commercial kitchen. RESPONSIBILITIES The CTE Culinary Arts Classified position is responsible to collaborate with the current CTE Culinary Teacher to establish and implement the WRTP culinary arts career pathway for income eligible community members; developing and maintaining an advisory committee; forming a partnership with Shasta College's culinary program; collaborating on supervising the culinary component of CHBYA's YouthBuild AmeriCorps program; coordinating participant preparation of meals to be served at the commercial kitchen or the new food truck; and supervising and instructing participants as they develop entry-level employment skills for a career in the culinary field. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AA or BA degree is desirable. Applicant should have a valid CTE credential in Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation with emphasis in Food Service and Hospitality or the equivalent.
