Job Summary
The Director of Maintenance & Operations plans, directs, oversees, and evaluates the District's maintenance and operations program including maintenance, grounds, and custodial services. The Director ensures that services and practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations and that operational and program goals and objectives are met.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, construction or related field. A combination of education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates equivalent knowledge and abilities may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. One year of additional qualifying experience substitutes for each 24 semester/45 quarter units of education leading to one of the degrees. Five years of increasingly responsible work experience in the maintenance field, at least three years of which must be at the supervisory or management level in the maintenance field.

The examination content is directly related to the experience, knowledge, and abilities listed in the job description. There is a Performance Exam, weight: 30%, and a Qualifications Appraisal Interview (QAI), weight: 70%. The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as Open/Promotional-Dual Certification: candidates who pass all exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam scores. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies in this job classification for six months.
If a candidate has taken the performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title within the past two years, the candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. However, for this recruitment, the performance test is not sufficiently similar to the previous performance test that was administered.
