Job Summary

SUMMARY Under the supervision of the site principal or designee, a Middle School Teacher is assigned to teach students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to the students’ development. The teacher analyses student data to determine appropriate placement of students and implements an educational program that supports student learning and maturity. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but are not limited to the following): • Understand and follows state laws and school rules and regulations. • Provide planned learning experiences, which will adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. • Identify pupil’s individual needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping to solve pupils’ health attitude, and learning problems. • Create the pupil involvement, a functional and attractive environment for learning. • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior which ensure personal and intellectual growth. • Help each child in developing an understanding of him/herself, leading to a positive self- concept and an awareness of the need for attitudes and actions, which will result in good citizenship. • Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents as needed on the individual pupil’s progress. • Plan and coordinate the work of instructional aides, paraprofessionals and volunteers, as needed. • Participate in all in–service days, faculty and grade level meetings. • Is willing to work towards the attainment of established goals. • Participate cooperatively with the evaluator(s) to develop and review the system by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with the District’s uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment.
