Program Supervisor, Student Pathways Programs (SPP)

Ideal Candidate Statement: The ideal candidate has experience working with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds of students; possesses strong intercultural, interpersonal and relationship skills; and has the ability to manage multiple high impact programs that engage and enrich the diverse Ohlone College district community.

The Supervisor of the Student Pathways Programs should be skilled in supporting students in a varied of ways; providing general information, application support, and building connections to campus resources and programs. This will require a dedicated, organized, and passionate individual who can build rapport with and offer accurate information to diverse group of students. The Student Pathways Program Supervisor will also need to have the ability to build and sustain strong, collaborative, relationships with both Ohlone and high school partners, with an approach to continually build and develop the program through offerings provided to students. This individual will also need to exhibit excellent supervisor skills as they work with Graduate Apprentices in the Student Pathways Apprenticeship Program. This will include leading weekly group staff meetings and 1-on-1s, also providing guidance and support to the Graduate Apprentices as they work with students at their specific campus.

Job Description Summary: Under the direction of the Administrator, the Supervisor will have primary responsibilities for supervising Graduate Apprentices (GA) and handling day-to-day coordination of the Student Pathways Programs (SPP). The SPP includes Dual Enrollment, Early College, College Connections, and the Student Pathways Apprenticeship (SPA) Program, all designed to strengthen and continually improve the college's relationship and physical presence in local high schools. The vision is to create and support a seamless transition of local high school students from secondary to post- secondary education by assisting in the recruitment and matriculation of Ohlone College feeder high school students.

This position is funded by categorical funds. Employment is subject to availability of funds.

Essential Duties:
• Assist with the advertising, screening, and selection of Graduate Apprentices to meet the needs of the college and its feeder high schools.
• Supervise and support the work of the GAs deployed at local high schools.
• Assist the Program Manager with scheduling trainings and workshops for the GAs.
• Assist with day-to-day duties involved with the programs, such as troubleshooting minor issues to ensure all programs are running smoothly.
• Conduct workshops to strengthen the skills and knowledge of the GAs.
• Provide routine feedback on GA’s performance to the Program Manager.
• Assist with the orientation of the GAs and ensure that they are knowledgeable of the programs and services offered at the college.
• Assist in the development of curriculum for the GA Training and Development program.
• Serve as a back-up for GAs at the local high schools.
• Assist the Program Manager with conducting a needs analysis in order to ensure the GA programming is meeting the high school needs.
• Assist the Program Manager to develop and coordinate marketing, recruitment, and outreach activities to facilitate and enhance knowledge of, and participation in, dual enrollment programs.
• Monitor and approve work hours of the graduate apprentices.
• Conduct workshops for high school students, parents, high school faculty, and counselors.
• Ensure that GAs develop skills, abilities, and sensitivities for assisting a diverse student population in an educational setting.
• Support the Program manager with planning, coordinating, and ensuring graduate apprentices are assigned to a feeder high school and are trained to assist students and the high school staff in the following: admissions, basic residency questions, dual enrollment processes and paperwork, financial literacy, and Dreamer/undocumented access. The graduate apprentices shall also be knowledgeable to provide qualified information on Ohlone College programs such as EOPS, Puente, Umoja, SAS, Career Planning, Guided Pathways programs, etc.
• Assist the Program Manager with the department’s budget and run reports as needed.
• Collaborate with various offices to help high school students transition into first-year programs, including Promise and other first year learning communities.
• Participation in campus committees such as Guided Pathways and Equity Advisory group as appropriate.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, and the community.
• Effectively engage and support historically disproportionately impacted groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule to include weekends and evenings for key events.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Current policies, procedures, and practices regarding community college recruitment and matriculation;
• Current research and best practices in student retention and success;
• Programs designed to enhance the college experience of underrepresented students, such as Puente and UMOJA;
• Legislation related to concurrent enrollment, dual enrollment, middle college high schools, and early college high schools;
• Principles, practices, methods and techniques of program, administrative and organizational analysis, planning, and management applicable to assigned programs;
• Principles and practices of instructional program development and administration including methods of instruction, the application, and use of educational technologies;
• District/college student recordkeeping practices, procedures, and systems for processing and maintaining student information;
• Research methods and analysis techniques;
• Safety policies and safe work practices applicable to the work being performed, including those required in crisis or threat situations;
• Community colleges mission and goals.

Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years supervisory experience;
AND Commitment to community college goals/objectives of being an equity-based and anti-racist institution and providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests;ANDMust have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate in Spanish, American Sign Language, or other languages represented within the District.
• Supervisory or experience conducting evaluations.
