Helix Charter High School is a comprehensive high school, located in La Mesa, California, a suburb of San Diego. Helix has served its community as a traditional public high school from 1951 - 1996, then as a public charter school from 1998 to present. Helix was the first public comprehensive high school in California to convert to a charter high school, and while much about the educational program has changed to best serve the student population, the tradition of the school has remained. Job Summary

Helix Charter High School is looking for a Lead Academic Coach to supervise and assist students individually and collectively in developing effective learning strategies to become self-directed learners. Lead Academic Coaches are responsible for running their own pod/classroom of students, and are responsible for tutoring, mentoring, attendance etc. In addition to pod maintenance and support of students, the Lead must also monitor and problem solve any issues that occur in their unit within the Academic Support Program. The Lead must also support and assist their fellow academic coaches and act as a role model. The Leads meet daily with the Academic Support Coordinator as a group before and after school to communicate and address any issues within their respective units and the program as a whole.
