MONDAY, APRIL 24, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., SHARP, Parent Center, North Conference Room, 4850 Pedley Road, Jurupa Valley, California 92509. THE TESTING WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY ONE AND ONE-HALF (1 1/2) HOURS TO COMPLETE. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO REMAIN IN THE TESTING ROOM FOR THE ENTIRE TEST PERIOD. THIS IS THE ONLY NOTICE OF THE TESTING.

Jurupa Unified School District HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING MECHANIC DEFINITION Under general direction to perform journey-level work in the installation, repair and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems; to perform routine servicing and maintenance to such equipment; to assist in other maintenance areas as assigned; and to perform other work as required. This classification is differentiated from others in the maintenance area in that it requires journey-level skills in the installation, repair and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS · Installs, inspects, repairs, maintains, and services all types of heating, refrigeration and air condition equipment. · Repairs or replaces condensers, compressors, pumps, tubing, relays, switches, valves, fans, motors, gaskets, filters, belts and other parts. · Tests for defective parts. · Schedules and conducts regular preventative maintenance inspections. · Repairs roof units. · Lubricates, cleans, and adjusts equipment. · Adjusts and installs various electric and electronic switches and gauges, thermostats, valves, tubing, and other parts. · Makes pipe connections and electrical repairs. · Performs brazing, soldering and welding as necessary. · Checks and tests new equipment prior to installation. · Rebuilds pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumps. · Services commercial kitchen equipment such as commercial convection ovens, deep fryers, floor-mounted 60-gallon kettles, and ice machines. · Makes estimates of labor and material costs. · Orders parts and supplies as needed. · Interprets drawings, sketches and blueprints. · Prepares and submits reports, and maintains records. · Drives a service vehicle in performance of duties. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS · Performs other related duties as may be necessary. · Assists as required in a variety of maintenance work throughout the District involving heavy manual labor and semi-skilled and skilled tasks. LICENSE REQUIREMENT Possession of a valid, appropriate California Driver's License. Refrigerant Handler’s License. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Standard practices of the Heating and Air Conditioning trade and the methods, materials, tools and Personnel Services (over) HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING MECHANIC Knowledge (continued): equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems; Applicable laws, codes, ordinances and regulations governing assigned work; Safe practices in the operation of equipment and tools; Basic math and record keeping. Ability to: Perform journey-level skilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems; Understand and follow oral instructions; Work with minimum supervision; Use independent judgment in selecting proper maintenance and repair procedures; Perform heavy manual labor; Perform the daily requirements of the job willingly; Prepare and maintain records and reports; Use applicable testing devices skillfully and safely; Work accurately from drawings, sketches and blueprints; Drive automotive equipment safely and in accordance with traffic laws; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Read and understand handwritten or typed documents, instructions, the display screen or various equipment and machines, and blueprints and schematics; Communicate effectively; Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk; Climb slopes, stairs, steps and ladders; Lift, carry, push and pull heavy objects; Accomplish tasks at various elevated heights in a safe and effective manner; Accomplish tasks in restricted spaces in a safe and effective manner; Accomplish tasks with chemical agents in a safe and effective manner; Demonstrate manual dexterity, and steadiness and stability of hand movement necessary to perform fine maintenance procedures in a safe and effective manner; Operate both manual and power hand tools in a safe and effective manner; Operate a variety of industrial or motor vehicles, equipment and tools associated with building repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance and construction trades in a safe and effective manner; Maintain steady, regular attendance. Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to four years of experience servicing and installing various types of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and completion of an advanced training course in the maintenance of such equipment.
