Job Summary

Job Summary

This position works directly under the Superintendent of Lakeside Joint School District to support the Superintendent's Office and the Board of Trustees. This is a full-time position, 8 hours per day, five days per week, at a 220 day work calendar. This position requires high levels of organizational skill and management of administrative personnel, as well as communication with the public, both written and oral.

          Lakeside is a small "jewel" nestled in the hills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, straddling both Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties, overlooking Silicon Valley. This one-school district has a rich history, established in 1881 as a one-teacher 1st through 8th grade single room school until the mid-1950s. Today, we are "tiny but mighty" school district, serving a little over 100 students in TK through 8th grade. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COMMUNICATIONS - Manage district/school website - Manage Lakeside calendar - Manage weekly community newsletters - Support Superintendent/Principal in community messages BOARD OF TRUSTEES - Work with Superintendent and Board president in setting meeting agendas - Stay abreast of rules, regulations, and policies that govern the Board and its meetings - Create agendas, minutes, board materials - Post materials according to Brown Act rules - Acquire signatures for required documents - Maintain updated files REPORTS - Support the Superintendent in writing county and state reports - Support the Superintendent in creating and disseminating surveys and analyzing results - Support the Superintendent in creation of presentations and other documents DATA MANAGEMENT - Support Finance Director with accounts payable and project billing - Manage attendance reporting - Serve as coordinator for student state testing - Manage student information systems (e.g., CALPADS, SIRAS, SchoolWise, DataZone) - Liaise with various entities (e.g., County Office of Education, CDA other school districts, vendors, etc.) OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED - Support the front office as needed (including interactions with students, staff, parents, etc.) QUALIFICATIONS - At least 3-5 years work experience in a related field or assignment - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite - A highly self-motivated work style and the willingness to proactively take on responsibilities - The ability to work on many projects simultaneously and to manage up and across - Strong attention to detail and organized - Strong communication skills - Ability to remain discrete and handle confidential information - Experience in school or district office preferred - Experience working with children preferred COMPENSATION: - CalPERS Retirement - Health Benefits - Degree stipends OUR MISSION: The Lakeside Joint School District exists to create independent learners with a rich and challenging curriculum, distinguished by instructional variety, innovation, and collaboration while fostering social-emotional strength.
