ABOUT CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. Stride is our curriculum provider. As a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, you will provide treatment for students, grades K-12 who exhibit a full range of communication disorders, including articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and expressive, receptive, and social-pragmatic language disorders. You may also work directly with students who utilize alternative forms of communication, including AAC and sign language. You will assist in maintaining student records, collecting data on goals, and preparing materials for your students and families to utilize during virtual therapy sessions and at home. You will support students in the general education setting with special education support services. As a SLPA, you will support your student’s direct individual and group services. You will be required to schedule speech therapy sessions with your students’ families. You will provide services as specified on your students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP). You will complete case logs for the students you serve. Services are generally conducted online, using a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform, such as zoom. Learning coaches are required to be present for all virtual therapy sessions.
HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: $35 per hour Monday-Friday Full Time: 8:30am-4:00pm Part Time: 15-30 hours completed weekly, during school hours As all of our schools are public schools and this is a public school position, these are set contracted hours and you must be working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours. We do participate in CalPERS. Only full time employees are offered health, dental, and vision benefits. Benefits information is only given out upon offer. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system.
