Downtown College Prep (DCP) prepares first-generation students for college success. DCP was the first charter school in Silicon Valley and currently operates two high schools and two middle schools in San Jose, CA. DCP currently serves 1750 students in grades 5-12 and provides college coaching, mentoring, and college scholarships to over 400 alumni. The Student Recruitment Coordinator will work alongside our Principal, School Site Management Team and the Director of Operations to develop grassroots, community-based recruitment strategies in San Jose. The person in this role will engage the community at all levels to ensure we develop a pipeline and meet our target goal of new students for our schools. The Student Recruitment Coordinator will establish partnerships with strategic community agencies, faith-based gathering places, neighborhood associations, feeder schools and community gathering places. Other strategies will include canvassing, organizing community outreach events and engaging with families in local neighborhoods. In addition, the Student Recruitment Coordinator will build a parent recruitment team and student recruitment team to assist in outreach efforts. The ideal candidate has experience in community outreach, building relationships with students and their families, and has established connections in San Jose communities.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred - Bilingual: spoken and written Spanish and/or Vietnamese - Experience in community outreach, community organizing, or student recruitment - Comfortable engaging variety of stakeholders in and outside DCP: elementary/middle/high school students and their parents, DCP site staff, community leaders - Experience working with first-generation, low-income students and their families - Strong analytical and communication skills - Collaborative, creative thinker who is driven by results - Passionate about supporting first generation students and their families
