Respresentative Duties for Custodian: Under general supervision, opens or secures school building and completes assigned schedules; assists Principal with specialized activities during the day/or night shift, including cleaning designated areas, keeping food and eating areas and restrooms clean, sanitary and orderly, making emergency or special clean-ups, picking up trash and litter, and assisting food service operations; cleans several classrooms and school offices during the evening shift, including arrangements for special meetings; performs heavy cleaning duties during vacation periods; and does related work as required. Knowledge, Abilities, Experience for Custodian: Good general background and training equivalent to completion of 8th grade or better; and good work history demonstrating substantial and verifiable employment of reliability, responsibility, and good work habits. Experience as a custodian desirable. Knowledge of: Mentods, materials and equipment used in custodial cleaning work;especially in relation to all types of flooring surfaces, walls and furniture; some knowledge of building and equipment maintenance; practical knowledge of routine hand tools of the standard household type; elementary written and spoken English, arithmetic and records work.
