Campus Supervisor II
PURPOSE
The Campus Supervisor II provides safety, security, supervision, and leadership to support the educational process by ensuring the well-being of students, staff, and visitors. This position not only patrols school grounds and facilities but also coordinates, assigns, and monitors the work of campus supervisors, ensuring maximum visibility and coverage. The role is responsible for responding to and advising administration on serious safety/security matters, enforcing district and school policies, facilitating conflict resolution, and fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
SUPERVISION
Reports to: Site Administrator or Designee
Supervises: Campus Supervisors and may provide guidance or training to student workers and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Assigns work schedules and coordinates duties among campus supervisors to ensure maximum coverage.
? Patrols campus grounds, buildings, parking lots, restrooms, and perimeters to maintain visibility, deter conflicts, and promote a safe environment.
? Monitors and controls student behavior and activities before, during, and after school, including classrooms, hallways, meal periods, assemblies, and bus loading/unloading.
? Advises the principal or assigned supervisor of all serious disturbances, unsafe procedures, or hazardous conditions.
? Intervenes tactfully and diplomatically in conflicts or misconduct by students, employing conflict resolution, restorative practices, and behavior modification strategies.
? Requests identification from adults and students as needed and may assist in escorting unauthorized visitors from campus.
? Monitors for the presence of outsiders on campus and reports unauthorized individuals.
? Provides leadership in crisis situations, including emergencies, lockdowns, evacuations, and fire drills; assists with inspections of fire/safety equipment.
? Documents and reports incidents, accidents, and unusual activities according to district policy.
? Participates in and may conduct safety trainings, professional development, and workshops, including cultural diversity, conflict resolution, and sensitivity training.
? Collaborates with administrators, law enforcement, and community agencies regarding safety/security issues.
? Ensures adherence to district and board policies related to safety and security.
? Maintains discipline and orderliness during high-traffic times, such as breakfast, lunch, and student drop-off/pick-up.
? Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the safe and effective operation of the school site.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
? High school diploma or equivalent required.
? College coursework in criminal justice, education, or a related field preferred.
Experience
? Two (2) years of experience working with adolescents in an educational, public safety, or community setting.
? Prior experience in conflict resolution, restorative practices, or law enforcement/security desirable.
? Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Required Knowledge
? School, district, and community policies and regulations related to student conduct and safety.
? The role of law enforcement in school settings.
? Principles of supervision, scheduling, and coordination of staff.
? Conflict resolution, restorative practices, and emergency preparedness.
? Cultural, socioeconomic, and developmental diversity of students.
Required Abilities
? Act independently in responding appropriately to student behavior problems.
? Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and community agencies.
? Exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive situations.
? Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
? Remain calm and act quickly in emergency or crisis situations.
? Assign and coordinate the work of campus supervisors.
Required Skills

? Operation of safety equipment, security cameras, and two-way radios.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
? School campus environment, indoors and outdoors, with regular exposure to weather conditions.
? Frequent contact with students, staff, parents, and the public.
? Position may require wearing a district-provided uniform or other designated attire while on duty.
Physical Demands
? Walking and standing for extended periods.
? Hearing and speaking to exchange information and give clear instructions.
? Seeing to monitor student behavior and campus activities.
? Bending, crouching, or lifting up to 25 pounds.
? Ability to physically intervene when necessary to protect student and staff safety.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
? Valid California Driver’s License may be required.
? DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance.
? Tuberculosis test clearance.
? CPR/First Aid certification (renewed every two years).
? SB 1626 Campus Security Training and CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training required within probationary period.
