Through collaboration with our partner agencies and relevant, rigorous instruction toward a high school diploma, students gain the skills to achieve lifelong, sustainable employment and become proactive members of their communities. John Muir Charter School provides that high school education in a unique program, suited to participants who have not flourished in a traditional high school setting, throughout California, with over 30 school sites across the state. Nevada County Superintendent of Schools provides special education services to students with disabilities to students enrolled in one of the John Muir Charter Schools to allow for all students to reach their educational goals. We are looking for a dynamic Resource Specialist Teacher who will effectively engage with our young adult students, work collaboratively with their general education teachers, and be an active team member. The resource specialist position works closely with John Muir Charter School Site Coordinators, General Education Teachers, and young adult students daily. This position has an active support system to further develop your expertise in best practices in special education, with an invested team. You have experience teaching students with special needs and can work closely with our student’s classroom teachers to provide the best educational success. You are eager to be part of a team Working side-by-side with our school educational stakeholders, you’ll: • Plan and develop individualized services for students in the John Muir Charter programs. • Encourage students’ academic achievements, participation in career and vocational programs, and preparation for their transition into adult life • Provides consultation, resource information, ideas and suggestions to classroom teachers and others working with special education students.
