Catholic School Principal Position: School of the Madeleine

The Diocese of San Diego is seeking a qualified, experienced and transformational educational leader who is deeply committed to furthering the development of the faith life and academic excellence of a double –classroom preschool through 8th grade parish school located in San Diego, California.

Principal Qualifications:

Religious

The Principal shall:

1)      be a leader/facilitator of the school faith community

2)      be a practicing Roman Catholic with understanding of the Catholic faith

3)      be deeply committed to the development of his/her own faith and that of the parents, teachers and students

4)      be understanding and dedicated to the ministry of Catholic education

Professional:

The Principal shall:

1)      have five years of teaching experience, ideally a minimum of five years in Catholic Schools

2)      have a Master’s Degree in school administration and/or California Administrative Credential or at least 5 years administrative experience within Catholic education

3)      have the ability to verbalize and clarify philosophy of Catholic School Education based upon church documents relevant to religious education

4)      demonstrate leadership ability in past or present educational assignments

Principal Job Description:

The principal has, as delegate of the pastor, immediate responsibility for implementing the philosophy of the school in its regular operation. 

Under direction of the pastor, a school principal has the responsibility to:

1)     Monitor the financial operations of the school and report to the pastor

2)      Implement the philosophy of the school in its regular operations

3)      Supervise and evaluate: a) Professional personnel; b) Auxiliary support staff; c) Students

4)      Provide instructional leadership

5)      Ensure the spiritual development of all students, parents, and staff members under the direction of the pastor

6)      Administer the entirety school program and report to the pastor

7)      Maintain and promote a PTG to help drive development to ensure programmatic quality and long term sustainability in consultation with the pastor.

 Salary:

90K-100K

 Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the parish/school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
