We are a Waldorf inspired program that emphasizes creativity and exploration of a wide variety of enrichment areas.. The ROCS’ Educational Specialist is an integral part of the school’s instructional leadership team and responsible for overseeing the program of children with mental, psychological, learning, behavioral or physical disabilities. With specialized expertise in the instruction of students with special learning needs within the mainstream classroom, the Specialist collaborates with the site principal and teachers to ensure that the needs of all students are met. The Coordinator works under the direction of the school site principal to develop a comprehensive suite of resources and processes for the identification, placement, and support of students across the spectrum of academic ability. In addition, the Special Education Coordinator will maintain and monitor special education data for the school site. Job Description

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or related field.

Valid California Education Specialist Credential is required.

3+ years of experience working with students with special needs.

1+ years of experience coaching and observing teachers (Leadership role – Department Chair, Mentor Teacher, etc.)

 

Job Duties


  • Manage IEP Master Calendar

  • Coordinate all Student Services 

  • Assist Site Principal in finding all necessary resources and services for each student

  • Supervisor of Lead Aide

  • Work with Principal to Coordinate Paraprofessional Training Topics

  • Work with Lead Aide on Aide Training Calendar

  • Work with Lead Aide on Paraprofessional Schedule

  • Attend relevant inservice and PD trainings

  • Train aides in modifications, accommodations, and Behavioral Supports

  • Conduct Social Skills Groups as necessary

  • Training for General Education teachers on how best to support students in the classroom

  • Set up of sensory needs area and training for staff

  • Coordinate and Conduct Academic and Support Groups as necessary

  • Train aides on specific student plans (including Behavior) and how to make Behavior Charts

  • Creation of Behavior Plans

  • Management of Accommodations, Modifications, and Designated Supports for MAP and CAASPP Testing

  • Other Duties As Assigned by School Principal
