The Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) is seeking applicants for the Lead Farmer position at Farm Lab. The EUSD District Farm Lab is a 10-acre property that houses multiple components that support health and wellness and enviro-literacy. Farm Lab is home to EUSD's certified organic farm that feeds into the nationally recognized farm to school program. The regenerative agriculture practices utilized at Farm Lab earned Farm Lab the Real organic Project Certification. Farm Lab is also home to the DREAMS Campus (Design, Research, Engineering, Art, Math and Science) that provides sustainability education to all EUSD students grades Kinder - 6. Students experience integration of indoor and outdoor education, 4PBL (Project, Place, Problem & Phenomena based learning) rooted in Next Generation Science Standards.
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Innovation and Farm Lab Development, the Lead Farmer is responsible for all aspects of certified regenerative organic farm operations at Encinitas Union School District’s Farm Lab. They will design and implement crop plans for the ¾ acre, permanent bed system to maximize production of vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, and other products - with the primary goal of supplying successions of organic produce for the farm to school program. They will keep detailed records and collaborate with the Director of Child Nutrition Services and the Director of Facilities, Maintenance, Operations, Grounds and Safety. Salary placement dependent upon experience.

The hiring process will consist of paper screening, district administered test and panel interview.
Successful candidates will be required to pass fingerprint background check, physical and drug screen and provide negative Tuberculin Skin Test result prior to working in Encinitas Union School District. Fingerprinting and TB test at applicant's expense. Physical/drug screen paid by EUSD.
