Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, of Educational Services, The Director, of Special Education is responsible for all matters of school administration related to special education services for the Pleasant Valley School District. The Director of Special Education cultivates and leads the charge in ensuring that students identified with special needs reach ambitious IEP goals and make significant progress toward school-wide goals.The Director will work across disciplines to facilitate cohesive systems that ensure access and equity for students with disabilities. This educational leader oversees all services and compliance reporting related to special education, in addition to ensuring that all students are afforded the appropriate FAPE in the appropriate LRE. The Director of Special Education provides oversight for activities related to the District’s SELPA Local Plan, serves as the Special Education Compliance Officer, and performs duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree, Doctorate Degree preferred with emphasis in Special Education earned at an accredited college or university • California Teaching Credential • Valid Elementary or Secondary Special Education teaching or pupil services credential • A minimum of Five (5) years of successful, full-time teaching experience • Three (3) years of site level administrative experience preferred • Three (3) years in a supervisory capacity in Special Education at the District Office level or comparable experience is desired
