Requirements / Qualifications

Location: Site to be determined. Required Certificates: California Teaching Credential/Counseling Credential California Administrative Services Credential or Certification of Eligibility for an Administrative Credential Education/Experience: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education. Five years of successful experience in an educational setting. The assistant principal shall have the experience and skills to work effectively with the staff, district leadership team, students, parents, and community. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: EACH bulleted group below MUST be submitted before your application is considered. - California Driver's License - Administrative Services Credential or Certificate of Eligibility -Transcripts verifying Master's degree with major course work in education -Supplemental Questions Response -Letter of Intent/Introduction -Resume -Three Letters of Recommendation (dated after JANUARY 1, 2022)

Please respond to the following two (2) supplemental questions and submit with your application: 1. Change is an essential ingredient in school improvement. Identify a significant change initiative that has occurred in the school district of your current job and explain how you, as a new assistant principal to a school, will help others to overcome their natural resistance to this change? How would you identify success in your approach? 2. As you review your school’s reading test scores, you realize they are significantly lower than the district average. Your teachers, however, explain to you they are working extremely hard to meet the literacy needs of their students. When you visit their classrooms you see teachers working very hard. However, you do not see evidence of effective teaching strategies that will better serve the students’ needs. You also do not see the spirit of the district’s literacy initiative being implemented in your teachers’ classrooms. As the new assistant principal, how will you address this situation?
