DEFINITION: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of instructional and general clerical duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a flexible elementary physical education program. Assist in creating an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for physical education in accordance with each pupil¡¦s ability; and to establish good relationships with the community and other staff members. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: „h Establish a positive learning environment for physical education instruction to students. „h Coordinate, refine, and integrate physical education curriculum with teachers. „h Inventory, order, evaluate, and maintain p. e. equipment. „h Keep current in physical education that relates to young children. „h Establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relations with all school stakeholders. „h Problem solve with students, staff, and parents. „h Care and prevention of student injuries. „h Other duties as assigned. ABILITY TO: „h Learn and utilize basic methods & procedures to be followed in instructional settings. „h Demonstrate ability to work effectively with children. „h Communicate satisfactorily in oral and written form. „h Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. „h Maintain calm and patience in stressful situations. „h Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information. „h Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. „h Read and interpret documents related to physical education for instruction. „h Establish and maintain accurate computer assisted instruction lab records and files. „h Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. „h Organize and implement planned activities with minimal supervision. „h Sit, stand, walk, lift objects of weight up to 50 lbs., push, pull, drag and grasp objects. EXPERIENCE: „h Two years active involvement with youth in a K-8 and/ or community program. „h Knowledge of State Framework. EDUCATION: „h Completion of seminar or workshop on human growth and/or development of youth. „h Two year college level course work including courses in both physical education instruction as it relates to K-6 students and care and prevention of injuries. „h Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
