The Golden Charter Academy is an innovative start-up charter school that opened in Fresno, CA in August 2021. It is a place-based, science-oriented school that emphasizes environmental stewardship, social justice, and equity. The instructional approach employs Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a strategy to provide successful pathways for student success in all learners. GCA has a formal partnership with the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, where students utilize the zoo as a living, educational laboratory. The Golden Charter Academy is seeking highly skilled and committed Substitute teachers for their charter school. Reporting to the Principal, the substitute teacher will be responsible for all levels of classroom instruction and management at Golden Charter Academy (GCA). They will implement a standard-based curriculum that prepares students for success in college. Substitute teachers will additionally be responsible for ensuring GCA’s core values are lived through the Charter School’s culture. Substitute teachers at GCA will have the base qualifications and will be appropriately credentialed for any and all grades and subjects they will teach. Will work closely with the GCA leadership team to ensure our students learn, grow, and eventually achieve transformative life outcomes. Each teacher will be responsible for ensuring that our students have the opportunity to learn in an environment of joyful, excellent teaching.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND QUALITIES • Hold the valid Commission on Teacher Credentialing certificate, permit, or other document required for the Substitute teacher’s certificated assignment. • Commit to work with educationally under-served students. • Believe all students can achieve at the highest academic levels. • Possess strong contact area knowledge and classroom management skills. • Contribute to a relentless and dedicated team of outstanding professionals. • Communicate well with students, families, and colleagues. • Proficiency in the native language(s) of the local community strongly preferred. *Please see attached Job Description.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities.
• Physical stamina sufficient to sustain light to medium physical labor for up to 8 hours, sit and/or
walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (office, district, school site to site)
for sustained periods of time on hard flooring, climb slopes, stairs, ramps, and to respond to
emergency situations.
• Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 15 pounds of material or supplies.
occasionally lift 40 or more pounds with assistance.
• Indoor/outdoor work environment.
