Job Summary

Hours will be mornings 8:00am to 11:30am on Mondays-Fridays, and evenings from 5:30pm -8:30pm on Mondays -Thursdays. Total weekly hours are 29.5 hours per week. This positon includes a generous health benefit package, sick days, and contributions to the California State Teachers Retirement.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related fields • In possession of an Adult Education teaching credential in ABE or English, of a K-12 single subject credential in English with EL authorization • One year related experience • Ability to adapt in changing workplace Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Education • Reading Certificate • Experience in Writer's Workshop • Three years related experience • Experience in using technology effectively to enhance instruction • Proficiency in diagnosing, assessing, and evaluating the strengths, functional levels and readiness for students to become college and career ready • Demonstrated excellence in effective teaching techniques and communication • Trained to be a proctor for CASAS testing Duties • Design lessons to help students develop their academic and workplace readiness skills and strategies (teaching assignments may vary based upon student enrollment) • Administer formal and informal assessments in class to help determine instructional needs. • Utilize classroom technology to enhance student learning • Collaborate with colleagues and staff • Maintain communications with students, administrators, and other staff • Maintain student records related to the course and goals of the program • Support overall needs of students related to enrollment, persistence, and completion. • Participate in departmental, school, and state professional developments.
