OVERVIEW: The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA) is a highly diverse, nationally ranked, tuition-free, public arts magnet school serving students in grades 6 thru 12 from throughout San Diego County. Students audition into a pre-conservatory art major in dance, theatre, music, fine and digital art, dance or creative writing. This administrative leadership position will support the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Department's Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) federal grant, “Amplifying the Arts in San Diego Unified School District” at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. The grant’s objectives are to enhance each school’s arts/STEAM program to reverse minority group isolation at each school. For more information on the program, visit sdscpa.org. BASIC FUNCTION: Under general direction of the department or division head, the Instructional Coordinator will coordinate and provide leadership and direction to site administrators and school teams in one or more areas of the curriculum and/ or compliance and evaluate and supervise the work of assigned certificated and classified staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to a master’s degree and seven years of TK-12 teaching experience. Educator who has taught or led instruction in the arts for this position is preferred but not required. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license. Possession of Administrative Services Credential or willingness to concurrently earn this credential through participation in an administrative internship credential program while in the assignment. An administrative certificate, credential, permit, or proof of eligibility for an administrative intern permit from an approved university must be on file with the Human Resource Services Division prior to starting the assignment. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES: Educators who have taught or led instruction in the arts. Ability to lead and support professional development and offer support around innovative instructional practices, including interdisciplinary curricular design and inquiry-based learning. Ability to support teaching and learning that builds welcoming environments that honor and include all learners, their families, and the community. Familiarity with the goals and operations of magnet schools and/or federal grants is also valued.
