Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, performs a variety of instructional and general clerical duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a flexible elementary computer program. Assist in creating an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for computer education in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and to establish good relationships with the community and other staff members.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

DISTRICT COMPUTER SPECIALIST

 

DEFINITION:

 

Under general supervision, to perform a variety of instructional and general clerical duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a flexible elementary computer program.  Assist in creating an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for computer education in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and to establish good relationships with the community and other staff members at all four elementary schools.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Establish a positive learning environment for computer instruction to students
  • Establish a rotating system to attend each elementary school once per week.
  • Coordinate, refine, and integrate computer curriculum technology with teachers
  • Assist principal in managing computer education program at all sites
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software when at a particular site
  • Keep current in technology that relates to curriculum
  • Establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relations with all school stakeholders
  • Problem solve with students, and staff at all schools
  • Manage/ or assign Spiceworks tickets while at a school
  • Other duties as assigned

 

ABILITY TO:

 

  • Learn and utilize basic methods & procedures to be followed in instructional settings
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with children
  • Communicate satisfactorily in oral and written form
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Maintain calm and patience in stressful situations
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Read, interpret and utilize documents such as computer/software guides for instruction and maintenance
  • Use and assist others with the use and maintenance of basic school computer programs and hardware
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties
  • Organize and implement planned activities with minimal supervision
  • Sit, stand, walk, lift objects of weight up to 50 lbs., push, pull, drag and grasp objects

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years experience working with micro computers.
  • Two years active involvement with youth in a K-8 and/or community program.
  • Mac experience as it relates to hardware and software.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of a two year technology program in a junior college.
  • First Aid and CPR certificates. 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful candidate will be required to complete a background and fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice and the FBI.  
  • TB Clearance
