Food Services Assistant I

DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, to perform routine tasks in the preparation of food; to maintain safe and sanitary preparation areas, facilities and equipment; and does other related work as assigned.

DUTIES
Loads food for delivery to schools, washes pots, pans, trays, utensils, and other equipment; assists in the cleaning of the kitchen, preparation areas, and equipment; may keep records of food and beverages sold; and makes daily reports.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Knowledge of:

• basic arithmetic and simple record keeping
• standard kitchen appliances
• sanitation, safety laws and practices

Ability to:

• lift and transport food and supplies
• understand and carry out oral and written directions quickly and efficiently
• learn and adhere to health, sanitation, safety laws and regulations
• prepare simple reports
• establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
• lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• complete requirements for food handler's certificate

Experience:

• none required

Education:

• equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
