The Accounting Director is passionate about being a supportive and courageous leader to IEM’s Accounts Payable and Payroll departments and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and other regulatory requirements as it relates to California 501(c)3 and charter school requirements. This person is motivated by the opportunity to support the success of the Accounting and Payroll administrators and departments. This position will work closely with the CEO to ensure the financial success of IEM and IEM Charter Schools and manage multiple competing tasks and priorities in an environment that faces frequent unexpected regulatory changes. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, caring, and hard-working. The Accounting Director position is a mix of technical accounting work and management tasks. This role will conduct accounting duties including GL management and financial reporting for all three charter schools. The Accounting Director contributes to budget preparation, performs historical financial analysis, cash flow planning and assists the CEO in projects including capital financing and project feasibility studies. This role requires frequent general ledger entries and assembly of reports. This position is responsible for generating all analysis and reporting of financial information including revenue, expenses, payroll, taxes, and required filings and delegating tasks to the appropriate departments when necessary. The Accounting Director is the technical accounting expert and ensures all general ledgers and accounts are maintained and reconciled accurately and timely within the Abila MIP Accounting system. This position may work with authorizing agencies, boards and state agencies to perform accurate and timely financial reporting. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree or CPA desired; - Experience: Five (5) years of related California public school/charter, non-profit, or government accounting/finance experience and/or training. Fund accounting system experience.
