RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services or other designated administrator. This position is responsible for administering the Early Childhood Education (ECE), California State Preschool, transitional kindergarten, and related programs in the district which includes supervising and coordinating all assigned personnel, ensuring that all program requirements are met and programs are properly implemented based on guidelines, and that all student needs are being correctly met as mandated. The director is also responsible for maintaining current knowledge legal mandates pertaining to assigned programs. The Director is responsible for continual evaluation, monitoring of ECE and related programs, and monitoring grant compliance. The Director is responsible for effective communication with parents, employees and community stakeholders. ABILITY TO: Provide leadership and vision to ensure continuous organizational development and improvement. Collaborate with families and community members of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Incorporate policies and procedures in accordance with laws and regulations. Ensures that all practices in the district are legal and ethical for each student/family so that each child has the opportunity to achieve at a high level and be prepared for post-secondary success. Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate site and/or district level staff. Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Manage fiscal resources from District funds and grants, prepares budgets and directs spending, and monitor such for the purpose of fiscal efficiency in providing required services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must be in possession of, or qualify for, a valid California Administrative Credential authorizing service as an administrator in a K-12 district; special education credential, or early childhood services credential, is highly desirable; experience in working with programs to serve preschool aged students including those individuals with exceptional needs; possess skills and ability to work with a wide variety of audiences; present clear and concise written and verbal communications; possess strong inter-personal skills. Advanced Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of teaching or related experience in the area of Early Childhood education is preferred. Five (5) years of experience in an administrative capacity having demonstrated success in performing increasingly responsible management functions in educational administration including early childhood and/or special education administrative experience. Candidate must possess a valid California driver’s license and must be insurable by the district’s carrier.
