We are seeking a Director to join the Transportation Department who is ready to engage in strategic initiatives designed to align our educational programs and services to support every student, every day. Leaders with previous experience in transportation and operations who are committed, collaborative, caring and exemplary are strongly encouraged to apply. The Director of Transportation directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the programs and activities of the district’s vehicle transportation system including home-to-school bus services, field trips, bus maintenance and bus driver training; coordinates assigned activities with each district school site and the district office. This position performs a wide variety of duties related to the organization, safety and efficiency of the district transportation system, including the application of sound supervisory techniques in personnel issues including hiring, termination, promotion and performance evaluation.

Recently our Board approved a 5.5% increase (effective July 1, 2022) plus another 5% in July 2023 and an increase to the District’s contribution toward health and welfare benefits.**** Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Supplemental college level course work in public administration, personnel management or a related field is desirable. Experience: A minimum of five years of increasing responsibility in transportation and operations including certification as an instructor and two years of lead or supervisory responsibility required. Experience in the operation of a student transportation system is desirable. ******************************* Licenses and Certificates: * Possession of a California School Bus Driver Certificate and Class B-PS Driver License. * Possession of a California School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate issued by the Department of Education. * Valid California Driver’s License.
