POSITION: ESL Teacher, Adult School (One or more positions available.) WORK PERIOD: M-F Morning, M-F Afternoon, or M-Th evening 15 hours per week daytime, 12 hours per week evening From August 10, 2022 through June 2, 2023 DESCRIPTION: Prepare and deliver English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) -aligned ESL instruction designed to equip adult students with language and cultural proficiencies so that they may pursue their career, college, and life aspirations. Provide learning environments that enhance the development of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking skills to non-native speakers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instruction that enhances the development of language skills of learners. Deliver balanced instruction that develops students’ receptive English-language skills of listening and reading comprehension, and their productive English-language skills of speaking and writing, guided by BAS adopted textbook series. Integrate language acquisition with relevant life experiences. Present differentiated instruction that responds to the varied English language levels of students. Apply English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) for assessing the major accomplishments of students, and adhere to the ESL exit level criteria for this level. Integrate English Literacy and Civics education (EL Civics) into instruction. Report attendance in a timely manner using attendance accounting system. Complete and submit all required data and accountability documentation in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid non-emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction to adults in the subject area. (Community college credential is not acceptable.) Master’s Degree or certificate in TESOL, Linguistics or related field is desirable. Candidates who have studied and gained proficiency in a second language desirable. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid, non emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction to adults in the subject area (Community College credential is not acceptale).  Master's degree in TESOL, Linguistics or related field preferred; TESOL certificate desirable.  Candidates who have studied and gained proficiency in a second langauge preferred.  Teaching experience in ESL to adults is preferred.  Additional criteria will include, but not be limited to: experience, training and seniority.

All applicants should prepare and submit a model lesson plan for a specified ESL level at the interview.  A demonstration lesson may be part of the interview proces, and candidates may be invited to return at another date.
