The Qualifications
The Siskiyou Union High School District is seeking an exceptional leader to be their next superintendent. The successful candidate will be an instructional leader experienced in high school education and school operations. This person will lead the district to the next level of achievement, while embracing and supporting all that has been done. The new superintendent will be highly visible and active in the schools as well as the community and will have the desire and ability to foster strong, cooperative relationships with all stakeholders.
The board would prefer the new superintendent be either a sitting superintendent or have experience related to superintendent work or district-level leadership. In addition, this person will have experience:
- As a site principal or school leadership equivalent to a principal
- As a classroom teacher
- With the elements and programs of a comprehensive high school including:
- Core academic content development and improvement, including A-G college preparation courses
- Career and technical education pathways and program components, including work-based learning
- Fine and performing arts
- College and career guidance, awareness, and exploration
- Integration of technology
- Integration of social emotional learning and wellness strategies for all students
- With the following elements of supporting our district and four unique and diverse communities including:
- Effective communication
- Understanding and working to address the needs of our diverse and most vulnerable students and families including students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged, persons of color, LGBTQ+, homeless, foster youth, and English learners
- Supporting and engaging families
- With restorative justice practices
- With labor negotiations
- With district finance, Local Control Accountability Plan, facility management, and modernization processes
