Lakeside is a wonderful small, rural, single campus school district located in the Santa Cruz Mtns., about 10 minutes southwest of Los Gatos. Our campus offers a Tk-5th grade elementary program for an average of 70 students. We are currently seeking a part-time Orff trained music instructor for grades TK - 5. The position is a minimum of two days a week with classes 30-50 minutes each with a total of 8 sessions per week. Lakeside owns a well rounded set of 14 Orff instruments including bass, alto, and soprano xylophones and metallophones as well as glockenspiels. There are also drums, recorders, and a variety of percussion instruments. The music program has been in place since 1997. The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in music or related field with classroom teaching experience. CA credential in music is a plus. POSITION
Music Specialist –
The ideal candidate will be a formally trained musician/teacher with a background in Orff, who is adept in teaching vocal music and a variety of instruments including Orff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Music Specialist will organize and teach classroom music lessons aligned with the California Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards for kindergarten through grade five. Adjunct activities may include leading the weekly morning all-school sing, the upper grade chorus, and the winter and spring programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful experience teaching music to young children in a group setting
- Experience providing effective instruction in a positive environment
DAYS AND TIMES
- 10 - 12 Hours per week
- Hours to be mutually arranged
PAY RATE
- $25 to $50 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience
SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Professional papers will be reviewed upon receipt.
- Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews by a teacher/school community panel.
- Finalist will be notified to interview with the Superintendent who will make the final hiring decisions.
