Under the supervision of the Director/Principal – The <b>Substitute Teacher, Special Education</b> teaches children in need of special education for the Santa Clara County Office of Education' s Special Education program; develops and writes individualized education programs ( IEPs) for the students; develops and maintains a hygienically clean, safe and effective learning environment in which self-help activities and independence are stressed. The <b>Substitute Teacher, Alternative Education</b> works at multiple sites using specialized techniques to provide instruction to students who have been unable to succeed in established elementary, middle, and high schools and/or continuation schools, as well as individuals and groups of students who have been assigned to court schools. This may be in a variety of educational settings which may include juvenile hall, independent study, community schools, or other Alternative Education programs.

REQUIRED TRAINING One year (or more) experience with population in Special Education OR Alternative Education, either through work, volunteer, or personal experience. REQUIRED CREDENTIAL / PERMIT Applicants must hold a current/valid Elementary, Secondary, or Education Specialist Teaching credential or a 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
