This position is for the 2022-2023 school year. Northern Summit Academy-Shasta(NSA) is a WASC-accredited TK-12 non-classroom-based, Personalized Learning public charter school. We are authorized by the Shasta County Office of Education and located in Anderson, CA. Our school serves students who reside in Shasta County and its contiguous counties. Students are provided their standards-aligned education through independent study, resource center classes, concurrent enrollment at the colleges, and any combination that is best for the student. Our school community values hard work, teamwork, and the creative growth of our student opportunities. The staff is a close-knit community focused on student-centered learning. The school is seeking a CA credentialed teacher with experience as a College and Career Counselor. The candidate would work part-time as an academic counselor and carry a roster of TK-12 students. The candidate will work with the staff, students, and families to define academic goals and the steps necessary to reach those goals. The school has a strong Career Technical Education focus. Knowledge of the CA Dashboard, and College Career Indicator is necessary. The successful applicant will work closely with the Executive Director, the CTE Coordinator, and the teaching staff in the expansion of a well-rounded high school program, increased college options, financial aid, scholarships, post-graduation options, and student goal setting. NSA is a small school. Employees contribute to the school community through multiple roles. NSA provides training and support for staff. NSA fosters the development of staff skills and interests. The teaching credential, multi-subject or single subject, is the essential foundation piece. The Academic Counselor role can be developed without the PPS Credential, however, the knowledge related to this role is critical. Career Technical experiences or credentials are desirable but not required.
- Pupil Personnel Services Credential - Basic Pupil Personnel Services (experience will be considered)
- Multiple Subject Teaching Credential - General Subjects (credential based on BA/BS, teacher preparation program, and student teaching) OR Single Subject Teaching Credential - Other (credential based on BA/BS, teacher preparation program and student teaching)
