Position: Resource Specialist                                 Classification: Certificated             

Report To: Principal

Salary: Teachers Contract (Full-Time 183 days)

 SUMMARY

 Instruction to exceptional individuals; assist classroom teacher in meeting needs of exceptional children; assist in the coordination of auxiliary services related to needs of exceptional children; provide instructional planning, implementation and evaluation.

 ESSENTIAL  DUTIES

 Establish and maintain the Learning Center to serve pupils whose needs are more intensive than can be met in the regular classroom with modification, but are less intensive than those requiring special day class;

 

  • Coordinate and participate in the identification, assessment, and instructional planning process for exceptional pupils as a member of the Student Study Team;

 

  • Assume responsibility for writing annual goals and short-term objectives of Individual Educational Plans for the students on Resource caseload, after obtaining input from appropriate personnel;

 

  • Assist in the coordination of instruction and services to implement individual student's instructional plans;

 

  • Provide consultation and support services to regular classroom teachers for pupils utilizing the Learning Center;

 

  • Arrange for and conduct appropriate assessment needed to define pupils' specific learning needs and provide specialized areas of instruction on a basis to ameliorate the handicap in the

shortest period of time;

 

  • Monitor pupil progress on a regular basis and participate as an active member of the S.S.T. in annual reevaluations of I.E.P.s by presenting assessment data and proposed instructional plan for approval or modification;

 

  • Provide in-service training regarding exceptional pupils, operation of the Learning Center and methods and materials appropriate to meeting pupils' individual needs.

 

  • Assist in identifying training needs for Para-Professionals.

 

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Site Administrations.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of and ability to implement the subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts relative to the duties and responsibilities listed on this job description.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

California Special Education Credential.   Behavioral Modification background preferred.

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a valid driver’s license and a current TB Test, First Aid/CPR Certificate preferred.

  • • Persons performing service in this position classification may exert 5 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
