KEPPEL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT BUS DRIVER TRAINEE DEFINITION Under general supervision, successfully complete the school bus driver trainee program; obtain a valid California school bus driver certificate in order to drive a school bus over an assigned route in a safe and efficient manner in the transportation of pupils; and to do related work as may be required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES 1. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this classification; 2. Reports to classroom as scheduled for training sessions and materials; 3. Upon passing of test, drives a school bus or transportation vehicle over assigned routes in accordance with an established time schedule; 4. Observes legal and defensive driving practices, assuring compliance with applicable traffic and student transportation laws, codes, and regulations; 5. Adheres to provisions of Motor Vehicle Code, and pupil transportation regulations; 6. Operates a two-way radio; 7. Assists in the safe loading and unloading of equipment; 8. Washes (including windows), sweeps, cleans, and refuels buses and other automotive transportation equipment; 9. Attends and participates in transportation safety and training workshops and meetings; 10. Performs other related duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Safe driving practices; Operation of large transportation vehicles and laws governing their use. Ability to: Drive a school bus and other transportation equipment of various sizes safely and efficiently; Learn the proper methods of basic bus servicing and safety checks; Perform simple record keeping and clerical duties, observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. To be considered for a permanent position as a School Bus Driver with Keppel Union School District, candidates must have successfully completed all required training, have obtained all required credentials/school bus driver
