About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. Basic Function: Under the direction of the designated supervisor, serve as the district receptionist, answering and directing telephone calls to appropriate personnel; greet and assist visitors; perform a variety of clerical duties in support of District operations, the Human Resources Division and the Superintendent’s Office.

Knowledge of: Operation of a centralized telephone switchboard system; Telephone techniques and etiquette; Interpersonal skills using tact, courtesy, and diplomacy; Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; Oral and written communication skills; Operation of a computer and assigned software; Correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary; Basic record-keeping techniques. Ability to: Serve as the District receptionist, answering and directing telephone calls to appropriate personnel; Answer telephones and greet the public courteously; Receive, sort and distribute mail; Type or input data at 45 words per minute from clear copy; Maintain routine record and logs; Perform general clerical support duties including typing, duplicating and distributing materials; speak Spanish; use assigned software at an introductory level; maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance (see job description for full details). Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year of general clerical experience involving frequent public contact. Proficient speaking both English and Spanish.
