About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. Basic Function: Under the direction of the Manager-Nutrition Services Operations, collect money for food service meals and a la carte items; make change accurately; count money and prepare bank deposit materials; maintain related records; assist in preparing and serving foods at assigned school site; assist with cleaning and storage functions at assigned school site.

Knowledge of: Basic math and cashiering skills, standard kitchen utensils and equipment, basic record-keeping techniques, interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy, basic computer skills. Ability to: Collect money for food service meals and make change accurately, count money received and prepare bank deposit materials, maintain routine records, learn the operation of the point of sale cashiering system, identify, and learn standards and practices related to reimbursable meals, operate standard kitchen utensils and equipment, operate a computer and computerized point of sale system, demonstrate effective customer service skills, learn basic methods of preparing and serving large quantities of food, (see full job description attached). Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Other Requirements: All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant’s satisfactory results of the Pre-Placement Evaluation Program (PEP) strength test.
