CA 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit or CA Teacher Credential. If you have one of these, and it's up to date, you do not need anything else, just proceed to the application. If you need a 30-day sub permit, we will assist you in applying for that. You will need a Bachelor's degree to apply. Please attach a copy of the degree to your application. Upon hiring you will either bring in a hard copy of official transcripts later, or if ordering electronic transcripts, they must be sent directly to feliciac@fsusd.org. Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) is needed and can be met with CBEST, SAT, or ACT passing scores. Please attach the scores report if you have them. If you do not have these exams, we can evaluate your college transcripts for BSR coursework. Please attach all college transcripts to your EDJOIN application for this evaluation. The fronts and backs of the transcripts are preferable for the evaluation. PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying for a sub permit for the first time and do not have a Certificate of Clearance, you must apply for that on the CTC website (www.ctc.ca.gov). Apply but DO NOT fingerprint. FSUSD will fingerprint you as part of the hiring process, at no charge, when you come in during the hire process. After we fingerprint you at your orientation appointment, your Certificate of Clearance will be granted by the CTC (notification via email; will include a document #). You will forward that to the Credential Analyst as part of your sub permit application.

If your sub application is complete, you will receive an email with access to hiring paperwork and further instructions. After you have completed the new hire paperwork and have all required documents together, please contact the Sub Desk and an appointment will be arranged for processing, as well as a meeting with our Credential Analyst, if needed, to apply for your permit. For the Credential Analyst, you will need to show OFFICIAL transcripts (hard copies, or electronic transcripts sent ahead of time (see above). Your degree MUST be accredited by one of the following: MSA, NWCCU, NCA, NEASC-CIHE, SACS-CC, WASC-Jr, or WASC-Sr. Also, if you don't already have a Certificate of Clearance, make sure you've applied for that (see link above).
