MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children in a specialized learning environment; working with special needs children is highly desirable. Under current State and Federal Law, requirements include proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent to be submitted with completed application and meet one of the 3 requirements: A) Completion of 2 years of study (48 semester units) at an institution of higher learning, or B) an Associate Degree or higher, or C) pass a rigorous District-administered assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and math. CERTIFICATES: Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (no online CPR certificates accepted).

WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 60 lbs. and subject to anti-social and assaultive behavior. School classroom environment; subject to exposure to communicable or infectious diseases, emergency medical situations; potential for contact with impulsive, frustrated and agitated students who may demonstrate aggressive behaviors.

    OPEN CONTINUOUSLY-Open to all qualified candidates with the selection process resulting in an Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies, provide substitutes and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year. SPECIAL INFORMATION: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug test, TB test, fingerprinting and physical exam. The physical and drug screen are paid by the District.
