POSITION DESCRIPTION: The position of Executive Director, Alternative Education is responsible for the planning, implementing, directing, and administering of the Alternative Education Program and other programs related to students determined to be at-risk; serving as a resource on curriculum and program operations to school personnel, the Board, and other districts; and maintaining staffing to ensure that the program objectives are achieved within budget. The position supervises principals, teachers, instructional aids, clerical staff and related subject matter professionals. General administrative direction is provided by the Associate Superintendent, responsible for division operations. This position is designated as a Certificated Management position and is part of the Management Leadership Team. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five (5) years of successful public school teaching experience is required. A minimum of three (3) years of successful secondary administrative experience in a comprehensive public school setting, or at a district or county office level is required. Teaching and administrative experience at the principal level in an alternative education program is preferred. Experience providing leadership for curriculum and categorical programs, and experience working as part of a collaborative instructional team is preferred. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Education or related field from an accredited College/University required. Doctorate degree from an accredited institution, in a related field preferred.
