Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor and/or Grounds Leadperson, operate power mowing and related grounds equipment to maintain District grounds and athletic fields in a clean and safe condition; trim and prune trees; service and adjust equipment and perform other grounds maintenance duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, materials, tools and large power equipment used in groundskeeping. Operation and maintenance of power grounds equipment, and tools used in grounds department. Operation of vehicles used in grounds department. Health and safety regulations pertaining to position. Safe and proper tree trimming and pruning methods. Requirements of maintaining school grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals used in grounds maintenance. ABILITY TO: Perform responsible groundskeeping duties. Operate and maintain power grounds equipment and tools. Exercise caution and be alert to children while mowing school lawns and fields. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and two years groundskeeping or related experience including experience in the operation of power mowing equipment or trimming trees.

DETAILS - 8 hours per day (with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch) - 12 months a year - SALARY: Step 40 Employees new to the district will start at step I of the salary schedule. WORKING CONDITIONS: Outdoor environment where children may be present; subject to adverse weather conditions; climbing tall trees, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, noise, dust, fumes and chemicals.
