TITLE OF POSITION:  CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES WORKER I

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:  Under the direction of the Director of Child Nutrition Services, prepares and provides food items for general consumption by students and school personnel and maintains sanitary conditions of facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares food and beverage items that meet mandated nutritional requirements for the purpose of general consumption by students and providing items to other school personnel.
  • Serves one or more items of food for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
  • Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
  • Inspects one or more items of food and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders.
  • Cleans utensils, equipment and the area of storage, food preparation and serving for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition.
  • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Counts cash receipts and maintains simple records.

 ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience Required: Prior job related experience in food preparation, serving and basic kitchen activities.
  • Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills in performing basic arithmetic calculations; operation and care of institutional kitchen equipment; use of standard office equipment including computer. Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes and sanitation principles.Ability  to understand and carry out oral and written instruction.  Significant physical abilities include standing and walking for extended periods of time, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other than conversations (potential hazards), and near visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation.
  • Education Required: High School diploma equivalent, or 200 hours experience in related food service operations.
  • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability, valid food handlers’ card, TB Test clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
