EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by course work in accounting, business, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in payroll. Experience in a public agency is preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 20% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. Summary of Duties: The purpose of a Payroll Technician is to provide support to department activities with specific responsibility for ensuring the accurate processing of payroll; monitor payment of employee taxes, benefits, and voluntary deductions; prepare and maintain a variety of payroll records, files, and reports; provide support to other personnel in accordance with established practices. This job reports to the Executive Director of Fiscal Services.

OPEN TESTING – Open to employees of the District and the public with the selection process resulting in one (1) Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year or until the list becomes exhausted. Current permanent employees of the District will be awarded seniority points as per the contract. All properly completed applications will be reviewed and the most highly qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process. The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant’s skill, training and experience. The EdJoin system will time-out after a 20 minute period of perceived inactivity. Your responses to the supplemental questions are limited to 5,000 characters. A completed on-line application is required of all applicants to be considered for this opening.
