About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. Basic Function: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform routine custodial duties at a designated school or District site during an assigned shift; maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition.

Knowledge Of: Proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in modern custodial work. Modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning floors, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Requirements of maintaining District buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Appropriate safety precautions and procedures. Proper lifting techniques. Ability To: Perform routine custodial duties at a designated school or District site during an assigned shift. Maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. Use cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Operate a variety of custodial equipment. Maintain tools and equipment in clean working order. Move and arrange furniture and equipment. Observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair. Maintain routine records related to work performed. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Observe health and safety regulations. Meet schedules and time lines. (see job description for full details). Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Required Strength Testing: All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant’s satisfactory results of the Post Offer, Pre-Placement Physical Evaluation Program (PEP). This physical strength test helps us select employee candidates that have demonstrated a minimum level of strength to perform the essential functions of the job.
