About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Basic Job Function: Under the direction of the Director-Nutrition Services, perform a variety of storekeeping activities involved in the operation of the Nutrition Services warehouse; oversee and participate in the warehouse operations and activities involved in the receipt, inspection, storage, processing and issuing of food items and supplies; process school site food service orders and maintain warehouse inventory.

Knowledge of: Practices, procedures and techniques of receiving, storing, shipping and delivering food items and supplies; Storage and rotation of perishable foods; Use and terminology of purchase orders, requisitions, packing slips and other warehouse documents; Proper loading and unloading of trucks; Health and safety regulations; Record-keeping and report preparation techniques; General sanitation, storage and safety practices related to handling and transporting food; Oral and written communication skills; Inventory practices and procedures; Operation of a computer and assigned software; Principles and practices of training and providing work direction; Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; Proper lifting techniques (see job description for full details). Education/Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years warehouse, delivery or related experience including work with food service operations. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver’s license; Valid Fork-lift Operator Certificate. Required Strength Testing: All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant’s satisfactory results of the Post Offer, Pre-Placement Physical Evaluation Program (PEP).
