Student Support Team MS

Job Description

 

Purpose Statement:
Under supervision of the site principal or designee, to provide safe and constant 
supervision of students during recess/lunch periods and at other times as assigned by the site principal or designee; and to do related work as assigned.

Essential Functions:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Be aware of and consistently implement all AEA site area rules and 
    regulations.  

  • Supervise and monitor students during assigned supervision periods.

  •  Utilize appropriate disciplinary procedures and techniques in accordance with the AEA site discipline plan.

  • Be aware of and enforce school safety standards at all times. 

  • Report any unsafe site in particular lunch area conditions, including equipment, to the site principal or designee immediately.

  • Maintain a clean environment (tables, condiment carts, etc...) in which students may eat.
  •  Food preparation, handling, ordering and inventory as assigned by the principal or principal designee.  
  • Collection and maintenance of student behavioral data as needed and assigned communication with parents and teachers.
  • Demonstrate strong communication with other staff and classroom teachers when necessary.
  • Make physical contact with a child only in cases of health/safety issues or in an appropriate and caring manner.


Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Fingerprint clearance
  • TB clearance (if handling food TB clearance has to be renewed every year)
  • Current CPR training
  • Bi-lingual Spanish or German a plus

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:

  • Activities and interests of children grades 6-8.
  •  Positive reinforcement skills and supportive rapport with children.
  •  Thorough understanding of AEA student discipline policies, practices, and philosophy.

Skills and Ability:  

  •  Exercise equity, tact, patience, kindness and positive attitude.
  •  Remain energetic and enthusiastic about children.
  •  Be physically involved in group activities.
  •  Be reliable in attendance and execution of duties.
  •  Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships
     with all persons contacted in the course of work.
  • Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective relationships with students.
  •  Maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and respect when interacting with students.   
  •  Exercise brevity, confidentiality, efficiency and tact when using Walkie Talkie radios for communication.

  • frequently work in outside weather conditions and noise levels which is usually moderate but can get loud on occasion
  • hear and understand speech at normal levels
  • communicate in a way so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
