Folsom Cordova Unified School District Position Classification NURSE Definition: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Elementary Instruction, the Assistant Superintendent, Secondary Instruction, and the Health Programs Department Chair, and in cooperation with the principals, plans, develops, and implements the basic health services in the individual schools to which he/she is assigned. Qualifications: Credential Health and Development Credential, or Standard Designated Services with Specialization in Health, or School Nurse Services. Licensure R.N.; renewable every two years with proof of continued education. Education Baccalaureate degree Typical Duties and Responsibilities: ƒæ Demonstrates in all of his/her work a sound educational and professional philosophy in harmony with the basic principles of the Office of Health Programs. Implements the philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies of the District as adopted by the Board of Education. ƒæ Interprets school health policy and acts as a liaison and resource to the staff, students, parents, community, and medical profession. ƒæ Screens students¡¦ vision in grades K through 6, 8, and 10 plus any others referred. ƒæ Supervises hearing screening in grades K or 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, or 11 plus any others referred. ƒæ Acts as a resource to the classroom teacher and school administrator. ƒæ Plans for basic first aid service. ƒæ Provides first aid care. ƒæ Arranges the procedure for the administration of a student¡¦s medication at school. ƒæ Consults with the administrator regarding the safety factors and sanitary conditions of the school. ƒæ Assists in obtaining health service for students. ƒæ Prepares required reports and forms that may be called for in the management of the health program. ƒæ Records pertinent health information in the student¡¦s health folder. ƒæ Gathers and prepares health information for Special Education Programs¡¦ Admission and Discharge Committees. ƒæ Assists the staff during medical crisis. ƒæ Attends meetings called by an authorized administrator. ƒæ Voluntarily serves on school and District-wide committees. ƒæ Attends and participates in required in-service training activities. ƒæ Adheres to the Code of Ethics as stated in District policy. ƒæ Provides for professional growth and maintains professional competence. Valid California Health Services School Nursing Credential or valid California R.N. license, Bachelor's degree and willingness to apply for Preliminary School Nurse Credential Pursuant to the State Public Health Officer Order of August 11, 2021 affecting all tk-12 public and private school employees, all Folsom Cordova Unified School District employees and substitutes are required to either provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or participate in weekly COVID-19 testing.
